The BRICK Dance Academy, founded by Bruno Galhardo and Raiza Previato, distinguishes three aims in its programme: foundations for social dancing, deeper work on its methodology, and training to teach. Even within one school, further training can therefore take different directions.
Developing your own dancing
Olga and Fernando describe Zouk Atoms as a programme of six intensive weeks, each comprising 30 hours, across three levels. An introduction is followed by patterns for forwards, backwards and sideways movement and, later, topics such as Shadow Position. They recommend roughly a year of regular Zouk dancing before starting. Level 2 requires Level 1; Level 3 requires at least two Level 2 modules. The pair also offer a general 30-hour teacher training that requires no previous Zouk Atoms modules. Training to teach and studying the system have different entry requirements here.
The Followers Project on Kadu & Larissa’s platform focuses on developing your own following. The Advanced Edition described offers two-hour live sessions on Tuesdays, with recordings available. Training is solo, and the content includes Zouk technique, drills, ballet and short Zouk routines. This gives the learning a different focus: you work on your own movement within that role. The offer does not describe training to teach. Anyone seeking that needs to distinguish work on their own dance technique from preparation for teaching.
Teaching as a learning goal
The BRICK Teachers Course in Phoenix is advertised for 2026 as an in-person course with 30 hours over five training days. Intended for aspiring and practising teachers, it covers methodology and communication. Here, designing and delivering teaching is itself the subject of the training.
Kadu & Larissa offer teacher training live online. Their programme advertised for 2027 comprises 30 hours in four modules across two blocks of dates. Lectures, demonstrations and teaching practice are part of the format. Recordings remain available until one month after the final module. This combines scheduled sessions with opportunities to revisit material later. Anyone planning to use the recordings needs to allow time for reviewing them within that period. The choice of training therefore also depends on how scheduled classes and independent study fit together.
